With a playoff win on the line, Madison Academy rose to the challenge on Friday. They pulled ahead with a 20-19 photo finish over the Hatton Hornets. The 20-point effort marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Charleston Owens threw for 104 yards and one touchdown. On the ground, Daylon Scott rushed for 132 yards and a pair of TDs.

When it comes to explaining why Hatton lost, don't look at Savarius Evans. Despite the final result, he rushed for 189 yards and one score. Evans is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 112 every time he's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tasean Love, who rushed for 61 yards and a pair of TDs.

The win made it two in a row for Madison Academy and bumps their season record up to 9-2. As for Hatton, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-4 record.

Coming up, Madison Academy will square off against Anniston at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs' defense has only allowed 9.9 points per game this season, so the Mustangs' offense will have their work cut out for them. Hatton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
