Basketball Recap: Legacy Takes a Loss

Legacy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a blow against the Pueblo West Cyclones, falling 55-24. That's two games in a row now that the Lightning have lost by exactly 31 points.

When it comes to explaining why Legacy lost, don't look at Gianna Schmidt. Despite the final result, she posted nine points. That was a full 37.5% of the Lightning's points, marking the third time in a row Schmidt has had more than a third of the team's points.

Pueblo West found their leader in sophomore Raquel Alvarado, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten rebounds. Alvarado is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least nine every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Payton Odell, who earned 15 points and five rebounds.

Legacy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Pueblo West, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Legacy will challenge Chatfield at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Pueblo West, they will take on ThunderRidge at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
