Football Recap: Cypress Springs Panthers vs. Jersey Village Falcons
While Cypress Springs put up plenty of points on Thursday, the same can't be said for Jersey Village. The Cypress Springs Panthers simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Jersey Village Falcons 60-0 on the road. Fans of the Panthers have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ point.
Jared Hagger was nothing short of spectacular: he threw for 163 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 passes, and also rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown on only five carries. His longest rush was for an incredible 78 yards. Paris Melvin Jr was another key player, rushing for 60 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Cypress Springs' defense and their six sacks. Jersey Village's QB won't forget Jarvis Spires anytime soon given he sacked him twice. Gregory Spires was another major factor on D, picking up 1.5 sacks, forcing a fumble, and making seven total tackles (1.5 for loss).
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Cypress Springs was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 292 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 189 rushing yards in three consecutive matchups.
Cypress Springs' win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Jersey Village, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cypress Springs will head out to square off against Cypress Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
