Volleyball Game Preview: Pinnacle Pioneers vs. Sunnyslope Vikings + Official Tickets

Pinnacle hasn't had much luck against Sunnyslope recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Pioneers will head out on the road to challenge the Vikings at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Pinnacle is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Westwood with a sharp 3-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Pioneers in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won five in a row.

The 3-0 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-22, 25-23.

Meanwhile, Sunnyslope posted their closest win since October 10th last Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Desert Vista, sneaking past 3-2.

Sunnyslope got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-27, 30-28, 20-25, 25-21, 15-12.

Pinnacle better focus on containing Lainey Johnson and Emma Easton as the pair were huge in Sunnyslope's win. Johnson had 24 digs and three assists, while Easton had 15 digs and two assists. Those 24 digs gave Johnson a new career-high.

Pinnacle's record now sits at 19-13. As for Sunnyslope, their record is now 23-13.

Pinnacle came up short against Sunnyslope in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, falling 3-1. Can the Pioneers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
