Football Recap: Torrey Pines Takes a Loss

Torrey Pines was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 31-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of the La Costa Canyon Mavericks. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while the Mavericks are ranked tenth).

Although Torrey Pines took the loss, they still got scores from Camden Nishnick, Blake Miller, and Logan Bonneau.

It was another big night for Coby Herman, who rushed for 154 yards and a pair of TDs on only 11 carries for La Costa Canyon. Herman really tore up the turf during one magnificent 92-yard run. Another player making a difference was Quinn Roth, who threw for 132 yards and one touchdown on only 12 passes.

Torrey Pines' loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for La Costa Canyon, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-1.

Torrey Pines wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 27-24 defeat against Poway on the 7th. As for La Costa Canyon, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Carlsbad at 7:00 p.m. on the 14th.
