Basketball Game Preview: Arlington Eagles vs. Mariner Marauders

The Arlington Eagles will head out to face off against the Mariner Marauders at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Arlington is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Washington's top teams: Glacier Peak, who was ranked fifth at the time (Arlington was ranked 25th). Arlington fell 57-44 to Glacier Peak on Friday. That makes it the first time this season the Eagles have let down their home crowd.

Meanwhile, Mariner was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 67-62 to Jackson. The Marauders have struggled against the Timberwolves recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Mariner now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Arlington, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-4.

Everything came up roses for Arlington against Mariner when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 98-63 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Arlington since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
