Basketball Recap: Minatare Comes Up Short

Minatare lost against Arthur County back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Indians fell 37-31 to the Wolves. While the Indians didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Wolves 8-3 in the first quarter.

When it comes to explaining why Minatare lost, don't look at Jimena Perez. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double with 24 points and nine steals. The game was Perez's fourth in a row with at least 15 points.

Arthur County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ryan Eilers led the charge by putting up 17 points and five boards. Eilers is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last seven games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Joley Bures, who almost dropped a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds.

Minatare's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Arthur County, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.

Minatare has already played their next matchup, a 54-26 defeat against Crawford on the 16th. Arthur County has also already played their next contest (against Sandhills/Thedford), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
