Baseball Recap: J.P. Stevens Makes It Five in a Row at Home

J.P. Stevens won against Linden on Tuesday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Hawks never let the Keyport Raiders get on the board and left with a 6-0 win. Considering the Hawks have won 12 contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past Soham Prajapati, who gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Keyport off the board. Prajapati has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Chace Sullivan was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Arav Mago also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: J.P. Stevens kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April.

J.P. Stevens pushed their record up to 15-7-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Keyport, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. J.P. Stevens will welcome Bernards at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Keyport, they will host Ocean Township at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
