Glenbard South is 1-6 against Willowbrook since March of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Glenbard South will take on Willowbrook at 4:30 p.m.
Last Friday, Glenbard South didn't have quite enough to beat Glenbard North and fell 11-10.
Tommy Burke was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Burke was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
In other batting news, Gavin Pogorzelski was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Tim Ewald was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Willowbrook won against St. Patrick on Friday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. Willowbrook had just enough and edged out Leyden 8-7. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.
Noah Edison looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits (and only one walk). What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2024.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jake Bonino, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024.
Glenbard South's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Willowbrook, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Glenbard South suffered a grim 17-4 defeat to Willowbrook in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Glenbard South avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
