Basketball Game Preview: Frontier Academy Wolverines vs. Platte Valley Broncos

Frontier Academy is 2-8 against Platte Valley since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Frontier Academy Wolverines will be playing in front of their home fans against the Platte Valley Broncos at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Frontier Academy is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Liberty Common on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Frontier Academy was beaten by Liberty Common 81-51. The Wolverines have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Platte Valley came up short against Yuma on Tuesday and fell 71-58. While losing is never fun, the Broncos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 201st, while the Outlaws are ranked 22nd).

Platte Valley's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Frontier Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.

Frontier Academy came up short against Platte Valley in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 60-55. Thankfully for Frontier Academy, Braylon Edstrom (who went 9 for 14 on his way to 24 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
