Basketball Preview: Sweetwater Wildcats vs. Tellico Plains Bears
Sweetwater has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Tellico Plains Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Sweetwater focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Friday.
Sweetwater pushed their score all the way to 67, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Tellico Plains 71-67.
Despite the defeat, Sweetwater got a solid performance out of Chris Alford, who shot 5-for-6 from deep and dropped a double-double on 30 points and 11 rebounds. Alford is crushing the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Nolan Dacus, who scored 12 points.
Sweetwater's loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Tellico Plains, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.
Sweetwater came up short against the Bears in their previous matchup on Friday, falling 71-67. Can Sweetwater avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
