The Gross Catholic Cougars will challenge the Ashland-Greenwood Bluejays at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Ashland-Greenwood will be up against a hot Gross Catholic squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. The Cougars breezed past Louisville to the tune of 37-0 on Friday.

Robbie Brennan and Colton Sweetmon were among the main playmakers for Gross Catholic as the former gained 171 total yards and a touchdown and the latter threw for 184 yards and three TDs. Brennan also rushed for 131 rushing yards, which is notable because the Cougars are undefeated when he posts at least 100 rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Gross Catholic proved: they limited Louisville to a paltry two yards per carry. The team can thank Brady Shepoka for the heroic effort on defense: he. Gross Catholic's run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 4.54 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 7.03 on average over their last five games.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ashland-Greenwood). They claimed a resounding 70-28 win over Brownell Talbot. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 58-7.
Ashland-Greenwood's win came from a few key players Gross Catholic will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Derek Tonjes, who threw for 296 yards and five touchdowns while completing 81.2% of his passes. That's the most passing touchdowns he has posted since back in September of 2024. Grayson Nolan helped Tonjes out on the ground, rushing for 105 yards and a pair of scores on only five carries.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Ashland-Greenwood, adding 20 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Nolan, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Ashland-Greenwood's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Gross Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Gross Catholic has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 179.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Ashland-Greenwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 160.1 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
