Football Game Preview: IC Catholic Prep Knights vs. St. Rita Mustangs + How To Watch

The IC Catholic Prep Knights will face off against the St. Rita Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

St. Rita will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: IC Catholic Prep extended their winning streak to three on Friday. The Knights blew past Saint Viator, posting a 49-9 victory. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Knights' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 18th, while the Lions are ranked 221st).

IC Catholic Prep's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nate Lang, who threw for 236 yards and three TDs on only 17 passes, and also rushed for 55 yards. Quai McGee was another key pass catcher, picking up 141 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Meanwhile, St. Rita took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 49-14 win over St. Patrick. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Shamrocks recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

IC Catholic Prep better keep an eye on Brandon Johnson Jr.. He was instrumental in St. Rita's win, rushing for 168 yards and four scores on only 11 carries, while also throwing for 29 yards and one TD. Those 168 rushing yards gave Johnson Jr. a new career-high.

St. Rita was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 296 rushing yards. They are a perfect 3-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

St. Rita didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jaiden Blunt and Jack Schapendonk.

The win got St. Rita back to even at 4-4. As for IC Catholic Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.

IC Catholic Prep might still be hurting after the 42-20 defeat they got from St. Rita in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Knights, Nick Herman (who rushed for 142 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries, and also picked up 30 receiving yards) won't be suiting up this time.
