Football Recap: Sterling Tigers vs. Weld Central Rebels
If Sterling was feeling good fresh off their 43-22 takedown of Fort Lupton last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tigers came up short against the Weld Central Rebels on Friday, falling 46-23. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rebels apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.

Sterling lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Memphis Dempcy, who threw for 153 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 38 yards and one TD. A healthy portion of Dempcy's aerial production (93 yards to be exact) went to Caleb Garcia, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
Luke Witzel had a dynamite game For Weld Central., throwing for 154 yards and three TDs on only 14 passes, while also punching in one score on the ground. Those 154 passing yards gave Witzel a new career-high.
Sterling now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Weld Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
