Football Recap: Bishop Mcnamara Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Bishop McNamara, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They took down the Archbishop Carroll Lions 35-18 on Saturday. The Mustangs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Lions, too.

Taariq Denson was his usual excellent self, rushing for 91 yards and three TDs.

When it comes to explaining why Archbishop Carroll lost, don't look at Tk Davis. Despite the final result, he rushed for 131 yards and one score on only 14 carries. Davis' rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 131 rushing yards.

Bishop McNamara pushed their record up to 3-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 6.7 points on average over those games. As for Archbishop Carroll, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Coming up, Bishop McNamara will face off against Gonzaga at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Eagles' defense has only allowed 12.5 points per game this season, so the Mustangs' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Archbishop Carroll, they will square off against Riverdale Baptist at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions will be up against the Crusaders' rather soft defense (which has allowed 31.8 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
