Softball Game Preview: Blue Ridge Knights vs. Armstrong Trojans

The Blue Ridge Knights will square off against the Armstrong Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Last Friday, Blue Ridge earned a 10-6 victory over Martinsville. Considering the Knights' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Ellie Schlieper spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Carsyn Stiger was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5. Another player making a difference was Addison Roos, who scored a run while going 3-for-5.

Blue Ridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Martinsville only posted a batting average of .281.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Armstrong, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 14-5 margin over Georgetown-Ridge Farm on Saturday. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Buffaloes recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

The victory got Armstrong back to even at 1-1. As for Blue Ridge, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
