Football Recap: Miramonte Matadors vs. Campolindo Cougars
Miramonte lost against Campolindo back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Matadors wound up with the same score they had in their last game (25-22), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 331st, while the Cougars are ranked 131st).
Miramonte's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Lane Dalton, who threw for 248 yards and two touchdowns, and Andrew Bjornson, who picked up 40 receiving yards and one TD. David Roman made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Miramonte didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of George Gilbert and Roman. Roman got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Campolindo to victory, but perhaps none more so than Micah Parker, who rushed for 119 yards and one score. The team also got some help courtesy of Everett Zellmer, who picked up 134 receiving yards and one TD.
Miramonte has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. As for Campolindo, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2.
As of now, neither Miramonte nor the Cougars have any future games scheduled.
