Football Game Preview: Midwest City Bombers vs. Southeast Spartans

For the first time this season, Midwest City will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Southeast Spartans at 7:00 p.m. Midwest City has given up an average of 37 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Midwest City's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against Del City on Friday. They were dealt a 54-0 defeat at the hands of the Eagles. The loss continues a trend for the Bombers in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost five in a row.

Meanwhile, Southeast put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Grant 48-6. That looming 48-6 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Spartans yet this season.

Southeast's win came from a few key players Midwest City will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Carlton Evans, who rushed for 47 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 23 yards and one TD. He was even better on defense, picking up a sack, forcing one fumble, and making five total tackles (2.0 for loss) in addition to snagging an interception which he returned one-yard for a touchdown. Another big playmaker for Southeast was Montre McGlugritch, who returned a punt for a touchdown.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Southeast's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Evans, Damon Davis, and Kain Muniz, who each picked up one sack apiece. Evans got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Southeast's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Midwest City, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Everything came up roses for Midwest City against Southeast in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, as the squad secured a 47-13 victory. Will the Bombers repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
