Softball Game Preview: Mariana Bracetti Academy vs. Maritime Academy Charter Seadogs

Mariana Bracetti Academy will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Maritime Academy Charter Seadogs at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Mariana Bracetti Academy is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Thomas A. Edison. Mariana Bracetti Academy sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 18-16 win over Thomas A. Edison on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Maritime Academy Charter earned a 14-10 victory over Thomas A. Edison on Tuesday. The Seadogs have beaten the Owls the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Owls has come to flipping the script.

Jordyn Kile was incredible, scoring a run and stealing four bases while going 4-for-4. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.4 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Olivia Alicea-Rivera, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4.

Kile wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Maritime Academy Charter kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.

Mariana Bracetti Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Maritime Academy Charter when the teams last played back in April of 2018, sneaking past 3-2.
