Volleyball Recap: Natalee Strathman and Alyssa Hasenkamp Secure Win for Axtell

There's no place like home for Axtell, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Marais des Cygnes Valley Trojans 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since September 2nd.

The match was exciting from start to finish, as two sets needed extra rallies to gain a two-point lead. The match finished with set scores of 25-27, 26-24, 25-21.

Axtell was led to victory by Alyssa Hasenkamp and Natalee Strathman. Hasenkamp had 11 digs and one assist, while Strathman had 13 digs, 11 kills, and two aces. Strathman is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Despite the loss, Marais des Cygnes Valley still got an impressive performance from Ella Reed, who had nine digs and two aces.

Axtell is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 28-14 record this season. As for Marais des Cygnes Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 39-4.

Axtell wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Linn on the 1st. Marais des Cygnes Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
