Softball Recap: Pasco Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Pasco's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They came out on top against the Hudson Cobras by a score of 5-2. The Pirates have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Cobras, too.

Abigail Grubbs made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Grubbs wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Torres, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Torres also put up a double, which was her first of the season.

Pasco's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-6. As for Hudson, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Pasco and Hudson could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Pasco will face off against Lake Minneola at 7:00 p.m. on March 24th down 262 places (397 vs. 135). Pasco is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. Similarly, Hudson (ranked 361st) will meet Dunedin (ranked 143rd) at 7:00 p.m. on March 24th. Pasco has given up an average of 8.6 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
