Baseball Game Preview: Van Buren Black Knights vs. Liberty-Benton Eagles

Van Buren hasn't had much luck against Liberty-Benton recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Black Knights will be playing at home against the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Van Buren is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.

Van Buren's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They put the hurt on Arcadia with a sharp 6-0 win. The Black Knights haven't had any issues with the Redskins recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Not much got past Canyn Schofield, who gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Arcadia off the board. Those eight strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Schofield.

On the hitting side, Will Rampe was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Van Buren is 5-1 when Rampe posts two or more runs, but 4-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Reid Cramer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Liberty-Benton entered their game against Calvert on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Eagles lost 14-3 to the Senecas. The contest marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Liberty-Benton's loss dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Van Buren, their win bumped their record up to 9-6.
