Football Recap: Clay Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Clay came into this matchup off a tough 21-point loss last Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Orange Park Raiders by a score of 31-28 on Thursday. The Blue Devils lost against the Raiders in their previous head to head back in November of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 33-7 score last time.

Despite the loss, Clay still got an impressive performance from Landon Martin, who rushed for 107 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also threw for 186 yards and two TDs. Martin's passing game has become a key predictor of the Blue Devils' success: the team is 2-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 0-7 otherwise. A healthy portion of Martin's aerial production (81 yards to be exact) went to MiKeise Battle, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Gabe Taylor went supernova For Orange Park., rushing for 61 yards and two scores, while also throwing for 171 yards and a pair of TDs. What's more, Taylor racked up 112.8 passer rating, the most he's had since back in August. Xzavier Jones was another key player, gaining 111 total yards.

Clay's defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Orange Park, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6.

As of now, neither Clay nor the Raiders have any future games scheduled.
