Volleyball Recap: Sarasota Wins Going Away Against IMG Academy Black

The Sarasota Sailors made easy work of the IMG Academy Black Ascenders on Wednesday and carried off a 3-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Sailors.

While Sarasota won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-17, 25-23.

Mikala Moon had an outrageously good game as she had 27 digs and two blocks. Those 27 digs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Rylan Miller, who had 26 assists and five digs.

IMG Academy Black's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Catalina Merhab Rivera, who had 21 digs and one assist, and Willa Simmons, who had 16 assists and seven digs. With that strong performance, Merhab Rivera is now averaging an impressive 10.9 digs per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Ariele Kupferman, who had six digs and two aces.

Sarasota's victory bumped their record up to 8-12. As for IMG Academy Black, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6-1.

Sarasota didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Bradenton Christian on the 3rd. As for IMG Academy Black, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against West Port on the 2nd.
