Preview: Boone Grove Wolves vs. Illiana Christian Vikings
Boone Grove has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Illiana Christian Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 50-22, which was the final score in Boone Grove's tilt against Tri-Township on Friday. Boone Grove has struggled against Tri-Township recently, as their matchup on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Illiana Christian struggled with offensive rebounds on Wednesday (Munster had nine more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Illiana Christian's rough 65-42 loss to Munster might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Illiana Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 260th, while Munster is ranked 86th).
Illiana Christian's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Cheyenne DeJong, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds, and Abbie Ritzema who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. The contest was Ritzema's fourth in a row with at least ten points.
Boone Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Illiana Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8.
Boone Grove didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Illiana Christian in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 39-34 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Boone Grove since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
