Baseball Recap: South Tahoe Sets Scoring Season-High Against Sparks

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Tahoe). They blew past the Sparks Railroaders 20-1 on Friday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Vikings with their most commanding win of the season.

Angelo Abandondolo made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Abandondolo was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ethan Trew was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Bryant, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

South Tahoe always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for South Tahoe and bumps their season record up to 3-13. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Sparks, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-15.

Coming up, South Tahoe will head out on the road to face off against Truckee at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolverines have averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season. As for Sparks, they will face off against Wooster at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
