Basketball Recap: Gibbon Comes Up Short

Gibbon extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 12 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-10. They were beaten by the Shelton Bulldogs 73-29. The Buffaloes lost against the Bulldogs in their previous head to head back in January of 2025, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 73-65 score last time.

Zion Adkins and Riley Bergstrom certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Adkins dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten boards, while Bergstrom posted eight points and eight rebounds. Adkins is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last five games he's played.

As for Shelton, they now have a winning record of 6-5. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Shelton had a senior duo take command as Jaxson Ohlman went 8-for-16 on his way to 20 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals and Drake Power shot 75% from the field en route to 15 points along with five assists and three steals. Those 75% shooting accuracy set a new season-high mark for Power. Rhet Hagan also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

Gibbon didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 80-19 loss against Ord on the 9th. As for Shelton, they have also already played their next matchup, a 68-44 defeat against Deshler on the 8th.
