Recap: Langston Hughes Panthers vs. South Paulding Spartans
The Langston Hughes Panthers were the 60-59 winner over the South Paulding Spartans when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Langston Hughes fell to South Paulding 54-49. It was the first time this season that Langston Hughes let down their fans at home.
Jaron LeMelle and Brentis Schaeffer certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. LeMelle dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds, while Schaeffer scored 15 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points LeMelle has scored all season.
Langston Hughes' defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-6. As for South Paulding, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Langston Hughes will face off against Paulding County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Paulding County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Tuesday. As for South Paulding, they will head out on the road to challenge East Paulding at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. East Paulding is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.
