Softball Recap: South Gets the Win

South and North pushed the score to 14-5 the last time they played North, but on Friday defenses reigned supreme. The Spartans never let the Saxons get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Saxons: they've now won three in a row.

Not much got past Lilah Cortes, who gave up just a hit and racked up eight Ks to keep North off the board. Cortes has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Brynn Stallings was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one run and one double.

South now has a winning record of 11-10. As for North, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-7.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. South is set to take on their familiar foe El Segundo at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, North will challenge rival West at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
