Basketball Game Preview: Monte Vista Pirates vs. La Junta Tigers

Having just played yesterday, the Monte Vista Pirates will head out on the road to face off against the La Junta Tigers at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

While Pirates fans will have to keep waiting for their team to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Friday's season opener. They were the clear victors by a 73-47 margin over Crowley County on Friday. The Pirates not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since January 28th (when they won 73-45).

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when La Junta faced off against Swink on Friday. The Tigers simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Lions 77-24. The Tigers have beaten the Lions the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Lions has come to flipping the script.

Monte Vista was able to grind out a solid victory over La Junta in their previous matchup back in December of 2019, winning 55-44. Do the Pirates have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
