Volleyball Recap: Wawasee Warriors vs. Whitko Wildcats
Wawasee was the 2-0 winner over Whitko when they last played one another back in September of 2020, but their luck changed this time around. The Warriors fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 2-1 on Saturday.
In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Wawasee sadly wound up on the wrong side. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 19-25, 15-13.
Lora Gonzalez paced Wawasee's offense, picking up five kills. Gonzalez were helped by Berkley Dolsen and Hadley Allen, who contributed nine assists each. Allen was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.
Whitko found their leader in sophomore Meredith Hindbaugh, who had nine kills and six digs. Hindbaugh has been hot recently, having posted six or more kills the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Audrey Watmough, who had 12 assists and four digs.
Wawasee's loss dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Whitko, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-11.
Wawasee has already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Clinton Christian on the 22nd. As for Whitko, they will venture away from home to face off against Wabash at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
