Baseball Recap: Auburn Comes Up Short

Auburn fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Enterprise on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Enterprise Wildcats by a score of 10-9. The Tigers' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Auburn got a good showing from Knox Chambliss, who tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

At the plate, Auburn got a big performance out of Stuart Mills, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI and one stolen base. The dominant performance gave Mills a new career-high in RBI. Angelo Santiago also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Auburn's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Enterprise, the win keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.

Auburn and Enterprise should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings. Auburn will take on Prattville at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday up 84 places (47 vs. 131). Auburn is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season. Similarly, Enterprise (ranked second) will meet Homewood (ranked 73rd) at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
