Baseball Recap: Hope Of Detroit Academy vs. Hamtramck Cosmos
Hope Of Detroit Academy had lost four straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 2-7 to make it five. They came up short against the Hamtramck Cosmos, falling 10-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Hamtramck this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-2 on Thursday.
Guadalupe Vega made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jesus Hernandez, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.
As for Hamtramck, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-7. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games.
On Hamtramck's side, Dorian Haslam was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Those six strikeouts gave Haslam a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.
