Stratford Academy took a three-set defeat the last time they faced off against Piedmont Academy, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Eagles had just enough and edged out the Cougars 3-2 on Thursday. The victory was nothing new for the Eagles as they're now sitting on six straight.

Stratford Academy took Piedmont Academy into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-18, 25-12, 21-25, 15-13.

Stratford Academy found their leader in sophomore Bea Leary, who had 21 digs and three aces. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Hatcher, who had ten digs and three assists.

Stratford Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 17 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in seven consecutive games.

Stratford Academy's win bumped their record up to 16-11. As for Piedmont Academy, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 8-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stratford Academy will take on Mount de Sales Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Piedmont Academy, they will face off against Tattnall Square Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars are facing the Trojans at the right time seeing as the Trojans are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
