Colton has gone 8-2 against Pomeroy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Wildcats will host the Pirates at 4:00 p.m. Colton has given up an average of 10 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Colton came up short against DeSales last Friday, falling 15-7. The Wildcats have struggled against the Irish recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.
Colton saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kiya Soza, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Another was Mere Bell, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Pomeroy was not able to break out of their rough patch last Friday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took an 18-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of Dayton. While the Pirates didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bulldogs 5-0 in the first period.
Taylor Gilbert was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Isabella Field was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Pomeroy's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Colton, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Colton has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Pomeroy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Colton's way against Pomeroy when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Colton made off with an 18-2 win. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pirates turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
