Basketball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Spring Woods' Seventh in Last Nine Outings

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Spring Woods ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top against the Cesar E. Chavez Lobos by a score of 69-60.

Spring Woods' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaelin Bargas led the charge by putting up 12 points and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Torian Pickens, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 17 points along with six assists and three steals.

Bargas wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Spring Woods was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cesar E. Chavez only posted 12 assists.

Despite the defeat, Cesar E. Chavez had strong showings from Johntta Thomas, who went 8 of 14 en route to 18 points and five boards, and Grant Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 boards. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down ten or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Tran, who posted eight points.

Spring Woods is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.7 points per game. As for Cesar E. Chavez, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.

Spring Woods wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 67-50 victory against Waltrip on the 10th. As for Cesar E. Chavez, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 52-50 win against Milby on the 4th.
