Softball Recap: Havana Starts Season with Win at Home

Havana gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past the Canton Little Giants 6-5. For the Ducks, this counts as revenge for the 10-0 victory the Little Giants walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Hannah Hodgson spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on 11 hits.

On the hitting side, Addie Atwater was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. Kaydi Miller was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one home run and two runs.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Havana will challenge Tremont at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Canton, they will face off against Williamsfield at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
