Football Recap: Huntington North Comes Up Short

The matchup between Huntington North and DeKalb on Friday hardly resembled the 21-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Vikings took a hard 42-28 fall against the Barons. The Vikings were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Barons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Despite the loss, Huntington North still got an impressive performance from Christian Jemison, who rushed for 240 yards while picking up 8.3 yards per carry. Jemison was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 66 yards. Wyatt Shearer also helped out with an impressive 89 receiving yards.

DeKalb got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Eli McCormick out in front who threw for 256 yards and five TDs. Those five passing touchdowns gave McCormick a new career-high. Xavier Bell was McCormick's top target, picking up 101 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Huntington North's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for DeKalb, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.

Huntington North didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 35-28 defeat against Leo on the 3rd. As for DeKalb, they have also already played their next game, a 42-0 win against Norwell on the 3rd.
