Volleyball Recap: Warrensburg-Latham's Loss Ends 11-Game Winning Streak at Home

The Warrensburg-Latham Cardinals came up short against the Auburn Trojans on Monday and fell 2-0.

The 2-0 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-23.

Allison Cushing paced Warrensburg-Latham's offense, picking up seven kills. Cushing got some help from Emma Whightsil and her ten assists. Ava Kierbs controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Auburn can attribute much of their success to Abby Duncan, who had 11 digs and two assists. That's the most assists Duncan has posted over her last seven matches.

Warrensburg-Latham's loss ended an 11-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 21-8. As for Auburn, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-13 record this season.

Warrensburg-Latham wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against Shelbyville on the 16th. As for Auburn, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-1 loss against Riverton on the 14th.
