Baseball Recap: Ashland Gets the Win

While Ashland's victory against Marshfield wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Grizzlies won by a run and slipped past the Pirates 5-4. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 20-3 on Tuesday.

Ashland's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was David Carter, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave Carter a new career-high. Another was Phoenyx Pennell, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

The victory made it two in a row for Ashland and bumps their season record up to 8-9. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Marshfield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-8.

Looking ahead, Ashland will venture away from home to challenge Crater at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Marshfield, they will face off against Cascade at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
