Football Recap: Belle Vernon Leopards vs. Trinity Hillers
After flying high against Ringgold last Friday, Belle Vernon came back down to earth. The Leopards fell 34-21 to the Trinity Hillers on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Leopards of the 31-21 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.
Curtis Wade threw for 125 yards on ten of 21 attempts. Anthony Dicenzo was his top target, picking up 52 receiving yards.
Trinity was led to victory by Jonah Williamson and Owen Gardner. Williamson rushed for 145 yards and a pair of scores on only 12 carries, while Gardner gained 191 total yards. Gardner's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 114 rushing yards.
Belle Vernon's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Trinity, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-4.
Belle Vernon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Trinity, they will host Aliquippa at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Quips' defense has only allowed 15 points per game this season, so the Hillers' offense will have their work cut out for them.
