Baseball Recap: Churchill County Snags 11th Win in Last 13 Games

Churchill County gave up the first runs on Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. They were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over the Elko Indians. This was a revenge game for the Greenwave: when they faced off against the Indians on Saturday, they had to take a 6-5 defeat.

Luis Lopez-Pinuelas looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Zack Adams, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Giovanetti, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Churchill County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Churchill County is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Elko, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-11 record this season.
