Basketball Game Preview: Asheville Cougars vs. A.C. Reynolds Rockets

Asheville is 2-8 against A.C. Reynolds since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Asheville Cougars will host the A.C. Reynolds Rockets at 8:15 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Saturday, Asheville lost to Crest on the road by a 72-58 margin. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 483rd, while the Chargers are ranked 39th).

Meanwhile, A.C. Reynolds had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Enka 71-49 on Friday. That 22 point margin sets a new team best for the Rockets this season.

A.C. Reynolds' win bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Asheville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-10.

Asheville didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against A.C. Reynolds when the teams last played back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 48-42 victory. Will Asheville repeat their success, or does A.C. Reynolds have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
