Basketball Recap: Tampa Catholic Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Skoot Donald and Neo Flores

Tampa Catholic lost against Calvary Christian Academy back in March of 2017 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Crusaders lost 95-75 to the Eagles. The Crusaders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Tampa Catholic's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Neo Flores, who shot 60% from beyond the arc en route to 27 points, and Skoot Donald, who went 6-for-15 to rack up 21 points and five assists. That was a full 36% of the Crusaders' points, marking the third time in a row Flores has posted more than a third of the team's points. Mehki White was another key player, putting up six points and six boards.

Cayden Daughtry was his usual excellent self, shooting 74% from the field on his way to 42 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds for Calvary Christian Academy. The matchup was Daughtry's fifth in a row with at least 23 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Zhu, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 12 boards.

Tampa Catholic now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Calvary Christian Academy, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Coming up, Tampa Catholic will head out on the road to square off against Maryknoll at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Calvary Christian Academy, they will be playing at home against Highlands Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles will be up against the Knights' rather soft defense (which has allowed 61.5 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
