Softball Recap: Ore City Comes Up Short

Ore City came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Hawkins Hawks, falling 8-2. The Rebels have struggled against the Hawks recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Galilea Abrego made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 3-for-3. Brooke Byrd also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Ore City's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7-1. As for Hawkins, their record now sits at 5-6-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ore City will venture away from home to challenge Beckville at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ore City is facing Beckville at the right time seeing as Beckville is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Hawkins, they will challenge Hughes Springs at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Hughes Springs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Hawkins' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
