Commerce hasn't had much luck against Mount Vernon recently, but that could start to change on Friday. Commerce will be playing at home against Mount Vernon at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Commerce's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
Commerce is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Rains 71-6. The Tigers have beaten the Wildcats the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Wildcats has come to flipping the script.

Aidan Brown was his usual excellent self, rushing for 161 yards and three TDs on only 13 carries, while also throwing for 315 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 14.3 yards per attempt. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (124.1). Malik Garcia was another key player, picking up 162 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Commerce was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 300 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 211 rushing yards in 13 consecutive games dating back to last season.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Commerce's defense and their three sacks. Jordan Walker was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. Xzavier Hassell got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Tigers on Friday. Mount Vernon fell 38-27 to Malakoff. The loss continues a trend for Mount Vernon in their meetings with Malakoff: they've now lost three in a row.
Commerce will have to contain Dawson Witherspoon as he made an impact in Mount Vernon's last game. He rushed for 73 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Commerce's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Mount Vernon, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Commerce has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 294.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Mount Vernon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 268.4 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Commerce against Mount Vernon in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 55-6 victory. Will Commerce repeat their success, or does Mount Vernon has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
