Softball Recap: Eastern Find Success

With a playoff win on the line, Eastern rose to the challenge on Thursday. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the Manchester Greyhounds. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Leah Rader was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Rader was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Braelyn Bevins and Aubrey Quillen did most of the damage at the plate: Bevins went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Quillen went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Eastern was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .345 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Eastern's record now sits at 20-7. As for Manchester, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 15-11.

Coming up, Eastern will be playing at home against Portsmouth West at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Manchester does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
