Football Game Preview: Providence Grove Patriots vs. Trinity Bulldogs

Providence Grove has gone 9-1 against Trinity recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Patriots will look to defend their home field against the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Providence Grove will be strutting in after a victory while Trinity will be coming in after a loss.

Providence Grove proved they can win big back in September (they won by 39) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by West Davidson 23-22. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Dragons recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Providence Grove had a senior duo take command as Jackson Lawver threw for 186 yards and two touchdowns and Andrew Thomas gained 89 total yards and two touchdowns. Thomas didn't just play on offense: he also made two total tackles and defended two passes. Providence Grove also got a significant boost from Nick Straughn, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 82 yards.

Meanwhile, Trinity came up short against East Davidson on Friday and fell 28-20.

Providence Grove will have to keep a close watch on Khad'N Fuller and Zaire Gill, a pair of players who had a big impact on Trinity's prior game. Fuller rushed for 95 yards, while Gill rushed for 69 yards and one TD.

Trinity's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Providence Grove, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.

Everything went Providence Grove's way against Trinity in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as Providence Grove made off with a 42-21 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Bulldogs' Noah Bradley, who threw for 338 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 14.7 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 73 yards and one score.
