Basketball Recap: Northwest Halifax Starts Season with Loss at Home + How To Watch

Northwest Halifax unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They were dealt a 74-36 loss at the hands of the Northern Nash Knights on Monday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it seven in a row.

Loss or not, Northwest Halifax got some senior leadership from TR'Ali Hyman and Daveion Richardson. Hyman posted six points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals, while Richardson scored eight points along with seven boards and five blocks. Richardson has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. Jayden Richardson was another key player, putting up seven points.

Northern Nash's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Quantay James led the charge by earning 15 points. Another player making a difference was Christian Barnes, who put up 15 points.

Coming up, Northwest Halifax will square off against Beddingfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Northern Nash, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Nash Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
