After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lincoln Southwest, Riverdale Ridge was happy to have turned things around on Friday. Everything went their way against the Gretna East Griffins as they made off with an 8-2 win. Considering the Ravens have won four games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Sammie Simmons, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. Kiana Cordova also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Riverdale Ridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Riverdale Ridge's record now sits at 5-2. As for Gretna East, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-4.

Riverdale Ridge and Gretna East should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in their respective state rankings. The Ravens will face off against Prairie View at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (15 vs. 114). Meanwhile, Gretna East (ranked fourth) will meet Arlington (ranked 61st) on Monday.
